December 2013

December was a busy month for Romsey OrganWorks with 4 organ rentals.

The first was at Royal Holloway College. We supplied an orgue de chœur to compliment the Harrison & Harrison in the chapel for the Vidor double organ mass. We used the excellent St. Eucaire de Metz Cavaillé-Coll sample set. It only has 22 stops, but really packs a punch.

Next was Newent Choral Society. They were doing a Britten-fest including Rejoice in the Lamb and the Jubilate. The Hereford Cathedral sample set was pressed into service. This was the first outing for our new subwoofer – a QSC KSub. It is very powerful!.

Then came the WI Carol Concert at Cheltenham Town Hall. The fabulous Rushworth and Dreaper organ is unplayable and will be removed to make room for new dressing rooms. Again Hereford was used with over 3KW of audio. It was an incredible experience. 2 sell-out concerts with over 900 in attendance at each.

Below is a short clip of the National Anthem. It’s poor quality as it was taken with an iPhone from the rear balcony, but the organ can be heard.

Finally came Tewkesbury Abbey. Another double organ French mass, this time the Vierne Messe Solennelle. Again the St. Eucaire de Metz sample set was used to accompany the mighty Milton Organ. The acoustics were so good in the Abbey that we configured the samples fully-dry. The result was fantastic!
